Welcome to Praiano

PRAIANO: what to see in one of the most beautiful villages on the Amalfi Coast

Praiano is a town on the Amalfi Coast, one of the most beautiful and spectacular on the one hand and among those less unfairly known on the other and I honestly ask myself: why? If we all know very well where Positano is, we get a little excited as soon as we hear about Amalfi, we still don't understand why Ravello "Ah, but certainly Ravello" and instead Praiano... "Praiano, what?". Here, let's immediately try to highlight and give the right light to one of the places not to be missed when visiting the Amalfi Coast!

How to get to Praiano?

Here the season in which you decide to visit the Amalfi Coast counts. If you decide to visit Praiano and the coast in winter, the car is certainly the best way. But if you arrive in the summer I would do everything not to move with the car as it is almost impossible to find where to park it and I even risk not moving anymore due to the traffic along the only passable road.

Where can you leave your car? I recommend the Naples airport car park, which is an excellent point of reference if you need to rent a car to get around, or if you need to leave the car to avoid going crazy along the coast. Being a very busy and busy area, it feels safe to leave the car for days.

Praiano: a must-see on the Amalfi Coast

Praiano is a municipality of just over 2000 inhabitants. Here there are 13 churches, some from the fifteenth century, others from the eighteenth century and many frescoes.
Here are the narrow streets, the timeless atmosphere, the dimension of the modern fishing village, the stairways that characterize these places and the colors that decorate it.

Praiano began to get noticed by one of the big publishers: the New York Times spoke about it themselves, singing its praises. Here some famous people have decided to put down their roots and to see the quiet that can be felt sincerely, you don't wonder why.

But a great pride of Praiano is the project that has characterized it and made it unique in the context of the Amalfi Coast and beyond: Progetto Naturarte.

La Divina is the perfect place to experience all that Praiano offers

Praiano project Nature Art

The NaturaArte Project was told to me by the creator Roberto Pontecorvo, a well-prepared young boy on the one hand, and madly in love with his land on the other.

The idea is (perhaps) simple: to highlight Praiano, arouse greater interest and turn the spotlight on a town that has everything to appear, but remains obscured by the stronger and brighter light of Amalfi and Positano. Honestly, between two of the most famous tourist destinations in the world, the competition is difficult.

So how can we give Praiano a unique personality? Transforming Praiano into an open-air museum. Easy to say, but easy to do...

Following a regional tender won by this project (very good!), 8 artists were called in who revitalized the streets of Praiano by creating 8 different itineraries to follow to visit the town.

The result? 10 and praise. (As are the restaurants on the Amalfi Coast).

How and what to visit in Praiano?

  • 1. 8 NaturArte itineraries
Follow one of the 8 NaturArte itineraries with its 150 contemporary works of art. These works tend to revisit some of the main and traditional characteristics of Praiano, in a modern way.
  • 2. Newsstand
Stop to photograph the 30 newsstands built along the route... Not only for the value of the kiosk, but for the scenarios that characterize these kiosks.
  • 3. Go and see the sunset from Piazza Costantinopoli!
This place is disturbing so it is beautiful and always worth it, but coming here when there is sunset I think it is one of those experiences that remain unforgettable and make you think about the wonder of the world. (image above)
  • 4. The church square overlooks the sea
A square with a church... typical of every town, obviously. Only here can you see the sea below with this view...
  • 5. Climb the stairs to the sea
It goes down almost vertically, so to speak... Just know that you'll notice it when you go up and reach the sea. Praiano's outlet to the sea is small, which is why it is not as famous as Positano: there are no large beaches here, but the landscape remains equally evocative.
